A much needed lazy weekend!

It's been a rather stressful last several weeks. Our cat got sick and then got better. D's work is rather crazy and stressful. And I find myself stressing about when it's all gonna get done.

This weekend, we went nowhere. No parties, no nothing. Just a few errands and grabbing lunch out. That's it. Well, except for one huge first for me, which I'll get to later. The main thing is that I am beginning to feel a bit relaxed and almost caught up on the never ending cycle of house-hold chores.

Now for that huge first: I went to my first spin class - ever. And it kicked my butt. For various whiny reasons, I felt I needed to find a gym where I could swim (after I take swim lessons) so I can get a good cardio workout without pounding my feet so much. The gym I joined has a pool and it's on the way home from work - a great plus. They also offer spin classes and I know several people who LOVE spin classes. So, I put my fears aside, donned my gym togs and off to spin class I went.

Overall it went well. I am sore in places I didn't know I had. I'm tender in places I don't really like to be feeling too terribly tender. And I learned that I am no where near as fit a I thought I was. I was getting winded in the warm up. OK, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but it was TOUGH. And good.

I don't know that it would have been as tough for me, had I not still be recovering from a killer lower body workout with a personal trainer on Thursday. At that time, I found out my legs are not as strong as I thought they were. Anyway, my legs were on fire for most of the spin class. Heart was pounding. Sweat was pouring. And brain was asking "what the hell have you done?"

And I'm ready to go try again.

Change is good.

  1. YAY!!!!!!! I am so excited for you about the spinning class and killer lower body workout! It is a crazy kind of good isn't it? There is just no way on this earth that any video or cardio workout on my own can create the feeling I get in a spinning class.

Thanks for keeping us up to date!
