Weird Monday

It is all but dead in the office today. Boredom, I’ve decided, is a danger for me. My boss, along with about half of the company is on PTO today. No phone calls. Very little email. Very little instant messaging. Just plain wierd. And boring.

The weirdness spilled over into my eating. It got sort of frantic earlier. My breakfast didn’t work. I made a very nutrient-rich breakfast - almond butter, oatmeal and strawberries. I basically took a jar of almond butter, added 1 ½ cups of rolled oats, 2 TBSP honey and 4 TBSP milk. I stirred it all together and put in the ‘fridge yesterday morning. I scooped out my portion for today - and it was nasty. The almond butter was rancid, I think. But that set me up for some not so great thinking and eating. The good news, is that I’m back to being aware and present.

I don’t have time, but I think I’m going to make it anyway - I need to go to the store after work to get some sunflower seed butter to make this dish. I had it all last week with sunflower seed butter and it was delicious. I wanted to switch up the butters - almonds are so healthy - but I also know that I need to do what works. Sunflower seed butter it is!

I also decided today - to clear the clutter. I plan to be much more selective about what I surround myself with. If I don’t want weight management to be my main focus in life, then I should not make it the main focus of what I read. The Slow Down Diet and Savor are uplifting and I will use those two texts to guide me. For encouragement and motivation - I will be a bit more selective about what I choose to read.

And I plan to spend more time indulging in two of my favorite activities - knitting and reading.

  1. Sounds like a great plan!!! Sorry the almond butter was rancid..that would just ruin my food plans as well :(

  2. Thanks, Kelly. Being bored at work certainly doesn't help.

  3. I used to think emotional eating was my biggest downfall, but over the last few years I've realized boredom and being tired are my biggest eating triggers. Those are flashing red lights for me to watch out. I've also been clearing the clutter in my home, hard but very satisfying :). Keep up the great work!
